2018 New York Fashion Week

We are so proud that two of our very own Aveda Institute Des Moines Educators, Adrienne Vezina and Esther Vander Waal, recently traveled to New York to style hair backstage this February for the Fall/Winter 2018 New York Fashion Week. Adrienne and Esther were the Aveda 2017 Educator Competition Winners and this honor was part of their prize.

Esther shared this about her time in New York: “As always it was a wonderful experience working with Jon Reyman on the Concept Korea show. I’ve worked four different seasons with Jon and this was by far my favorite look to do. We did tight curls with volume at the scalp, root back combing, followed by looser back combing and then kind of “accordion” folded the hair and pinned in. Marie Antoinette was the inspiration for the hair. The party Friday night was so fun with the artists and influencers. But the highlight for me, besides working the show, was dinner with Antoinette Bender’s and Allen Ruiz! They were so kind and personable. It truly was a very special experience!”

We are happy to hear that our education team got to connect with major players in the hair, beauty and fashion network. Just another reason why we value and choose to partner with Aveda for their education, network, and programming!
