The Aveda Institute Des Moines goes to NAHA 2019

A story and experience we are so excited to share! Recently members of our Aveda Institute Des Moines team and greater beauty group attended the 2019 Professional Beauty Association North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHAs), where FOUR of our very own Aveda Institute Des Moines Alumni were either nominated as finalists or involved in the creation of finalist work.

Recent student and now alumni Allie Huseman was a nominated finalist in the 2019 Student Hairstylist of the Year category. This is the first student nomination not only for the Aveda Institute Des Moines but also for the entire state of Iowa. Alumni Samantha Watson and Alumni Matthew Rouse did makeup and technical direction, respectively, to help Allie create her collection.

Aveda Makeup Purefessional and Aveda Institute Des Moines Alumni Madelyn Cunningham was nominated as a finalist in the Makeup Professional of the Year Category. Madelyn’s work being recognized nationally is a huge honor and we are lucky to have her as a guest artist frequently for our students.

Matthew Rouse accepts 2019 NAHA People’s Choice Award
And last but not least, Aveda Institute Des Moines Alumni and instructor Matthew Rouse took home the 2019 NAHA People’s Choice Award ? ?. He is the first Iowan to take home this award and humbly accepted it on behalf of the team it took to create the award-winning image & collection, including our alumni Maddie Cunningham and Samantha Watson. Most notably in all of this recognition, the Aveda Institute Des Moines’ in-house photographer and creative director Trav McAvaddy shot all of these projects.
